Drill balance is the industry standard. Small holes are drilled in the heavier areas of the armature to remove weight and fine tune the balance. Drill balancing will lighten the armature, thus increasing acceleration.
Epoxy balancing is accomplished by adding epoxy to the light areas of the armature. The advantage of this is you do not remove any metal, which means no loss of torque production. Adding weight also helps slow down and smooth out the initial startup of the armature giving better low end resolution.
